Arahaṃ sammā-sambuddho bhagava, buddhaṃ bhagavantaṃ abhivādemi.

The Lord, the Perfectly Awakened and Blessed One. I bow to the Buddha. <bow>

Svākkhāto bhagavatā dhammo, dhammaṃ namassāmi.

The Teaching so completely explained by him.  I bow to the Dhamma. <bow>

Supaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho, saṅghaṃ namāmi.

The Blessed One’s Community of Disciples, who have practiced well. I bow to the Saṅgha. <bow>

Homage to the Blessed, Worthy, and Fully Self-Awakened One.

Cetiya-Vandanā – Homage to all holy objects

Vandāmi cetiyaṁ sabbaṁ sabba thānesu patiṭṭhitaṁ,

Sārirīka dhātu mahā bodhiṁ buddha-rūpaṁ sakalaṁ-sadā.

I pay homage to every stupa that may stand in any place, the bodily relics, the Great Bodhi, and all images of the Buddha.

Buddhānussati – Recollection of the Buddha

Iti’pi so bhagavā arahaṁ sammā-sambuddho,

buddho bhagavā’ti.

Homage to the Blessed, Worthy, and Fully Self-Awakened One.

He is impeccable in knowledge and conduct, the Fortunate One, the knower of the world.

He trains perfectly those who can be trained. He is teacher of celestial and human beings.

He is awake and holy.

Dhammānussati – Recollection of the Dhamma

Svākkhāto bhagavatā dhammo,

sandiṭṭhiko, akāliko, ehi-passiko, opanayyiko,

paccattaṁ veditabbo viññūhī’ti.

The Dhamma is well-expounded by the Blessed One.

It is visible here and now, timeless, encourages investigation and leads onwards.

It is to be personally experienced by the wise.

Saṅghānussati – Recollection of the Saṅgha

Supaṭipanno bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho,

Uju-paṭipanno bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho,

Sāmīci-paṭipanno bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho;

Yadidaṁ: cattāri purisa-yugāni aṭṭha purisa-puggalā,

esa bhagavato sāvaka-saṅgho;

Āhuneyyo pāhuneyyo dakkhiṇeyyo añjali-karaṇīyo.

Anuttaraṁ puññak-khettaṁ lokassāti.

They are the Blessed One’s Disciples who have practiced well,

Who have practiced directly, who have practiced insightfully, who practice with integrity.

That is the four pairs, the eight kinds of worthy beings.

Such are the Blessed One’s disciples.

They are worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of respect.

They are an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.
