Transcendent Co-Arising Daylong References

From the daylong meditation retreat on Sunday, June 8th.  The theme of the day was ‘Transcendental Dependent Origination’.  Take this quote from DN 2:

“When one sees that these five hindrances have been abandoned within oneself,  gladness is born. In one who is gladdened, rapture is born. Enraptured at heart, one’s body grows calm. With body calm, one is sensitive to pleasure. Feeling pleasure, one’s mind becomes concentrated.”

These sorts of stock phrases, which occur throughout the pāli canon, hint at a greater structure to the conditioned and linear process of liberation.  There are many forms this takes, but the theme is the same.  Just as suffering is dependent on conditions, so the path that leads out also has it’s own dependent origination.
